Noggin Warmers

I'm gonna dig out my knitting needles this weekend and get busy making the girls some hats.  But whatever I make, I'm not sure they're going to be as cute as these colorful wool hats my friend Erin made for them.  Aren't they wonderful??  They kept their lil' noggins warm while camping a couple months ago...

What beats wearing one hat?  Wearing two!

Stop taking pictures, MOM!

Thanks again, Erin, for the hats!!  The girls will be wearing them constantly these upcoming months!  Miss you.

Free Hat Pattern!

Good morning, everyone!  I'm actually feeling rested at the moment, despite the fact Jane has been waking up every two hours throughout the night. (So if there are multiple typos here, please forgive me!) I figured I'd take this time to let you know where I found the pattern for the hats I knitted for her.  Have you heard of ravelry.com?  If not, and you're a knitter/crocheter, hop on over to this incredible website to become a member.  You'll love it. (I also want to welcome Lisa, a new reader, who was one of a few people who have recently requested this pattern...I'm so glad you are enjoying my blog!  I hope you like the pattern.)  You can find the pattern here.

The only variation I made to the bow version was knit a seed stitch (7 rows) for the rim--this prevents the rim from rolling, which I've never been a fan of.

 

For the plum hat I knitted every other 7 rows with the seed stitch as well.  I love the look it created.

 

These hats took only a few hours each to complete.  I love easy knit-ups!

Almost Here

I returned from my checkup a few hours ago...it turns out I'm almost dilated to a 5 without even being in active labor!  The midwife says I'm very ready and thinks this little baby will be here sooner than later.  EXCITING! 

Good thing I was able to finish up a few projects I've worked on the last little while.  In my opinion, every little new baby needs a few handmade goodies to help welcome him/her into the world.  Do you remember the "plum" onesie and booties I made while visiting my sisters in New York?  Well, I finally made a matching hat to complete the outfit.

 

I had too much fun needle felting the stem and leaf.

 

Here's one with a cute little bow perched on top.

 

And of course this little girl is going to be adorned with a ruby bracelet!

Here's the last project I finished--a flannel blanket.  It was the first time I used Mable to sew a decorative stitch.

 

Remember the cupcake necklaces Leah made?  They are all packaged up and ready to go to give to the girls from the new baby.

And here's one last thing.  Last night I found this little "Sweet Pea" that I needle felted over a year ago!  Do you have any ideas what I should do with it?  I'd like to use it somehow to welcome this little Sweet Pea into the world...

 

Yup.  I think we're ready.  Now I'm going to spend the rest of the day/evening cuddling with the girls.

Clickety Click Click Click

Remember the yarn I was going to use to knit something during my cross country plane trip from Washington to New York?  Well, let's just say I was a bit busy keeping my 2 year-old occupied and there wasn't a moment to spare.  However, once I was at my sister's there was plenty of time to get those needles a-clickin'! 

And clickety-click-click they went.

 

Initially I purchased the yarn to knit myself a pair of fingerless gloves, but I changed my mind...this was the perfect yarn to make booties for my lil' bun in the oven.

And while I was there Ellen hosted a "Onesie Party" for friends to come and applique designs onto onesies for their own littles ones!  

 

I appliqued a little plump plum onto this pink onesie, though I should've used a different fabric for the main part--now I think it looks like a pineapple!  Oh well...  :) To complete the attire I plan to knit a little hat out of the same pink yarn and adorn it with two little green leaves on the top.

It's a shower of love!

To make your own appliqued onesies use Heat n' Bond to adhere your fabric cut-outs to the onesie, then hand stitch the edges...It's that simple!  There's a few more ideas I'd like to share with you but it'll have to wait for another day.  Until then, get busy knittin' and appliquein'!
