Here it is- the first of three felt projects! And yes, you read the title correctly--these scrumptious delights are made of felt and are handsewn with embroidery floss. These were so much FUN to make...I'm sure you'll be as giddy as I was while making them. As you can see, you can create many different styles, so allow your little mind to go crazy with ideas!
I embellished mine with sprinkles, and personalized my daughters' cookies by handsewing their names. I cannot wait to give these to them on Valentine's Day. Before we get started on how to make them here are a few close-up pictures:
Avery's cookie was made to look like the one I decorated for her last year:
I have created a photo album with pictures of all the different steps to making a round Valentine cookie with white frosting and red sugar sprinkles:
In this tutorial I used two different stitches--the "Blanket Stitch" and the "Whip Stitch". If you are not familiar with these stitches you can learn to make them here, at
futuregirl.com.
And don't think only adults can do this...last night my 8 year old niece and 6 year old nephew both made one and they turned out WONDERFUL! This is a great family activity! (My niece and nephew used the whip stitch only, which looked very cute.)
That's it for today...Happy Stitching!
