Oh, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the many comments about everyone's Mothers!  You all shared such beautiful stories/examples of strong, compassionate, and loving women.  YAY FOR MOMS!

On a different note, Jane and I had a fabulous time in Utah!  The plane ride went great, Lane & Ashley looked as cute as can be in their graduation gowns, the weather was beautiful, and I came home feeling so grateful for the many family members that I have.  Can I just say that I'm related to some pretty amazing people?  I truly am blessed.  Oh, and I was also able to visit The Sweet Tooth Fairy Gourmet Bake shop.  Yes, their cupcakes are definitely yummy!

That's right.  In a few hours Jane and I will be in the blue skies on our way to Utah for my brother and sis-in- law's graduation from BYU.  (CONGRATS Lane and Ashley!  I'm so proud of you!)

Yummy Homemade Oreos and the Talented Heather Bailey

Since Avery's birthday is in the summer her preschool class celebrated her half birthday today.  The girls decided homemade oreos would be a yummy celebratory dessert.

But why make plain round cookies when you can have flowery ones?!  And of course the filling needed to be pink, not white.  The girls helped make them and did a fantastic job at it.

I made a few open-faced ones.  Wouldn't these be great for a girl themed baby shower?

 

And look what I just came across...the perfect gift I want to make for the girls' birthdays.  I'M IN LOVE, and I know they will be too.

Look at those cute eyelashes!  And "hair accessories"!

 

I'm dying here.  darling. Darling. DARLING.

I mean, seriously, have you ever seen anything cuter than these??  I haven't.    And speaking of Heather Bailey and hair accessories, my Trash Ties just arrived in the mail!

 

I tell ya, Heather Bailey is amazing.  AMAZING.  I just found out about her last month (where in the world have I been?  I swear I'm the last person to find out about everything).  I think she is my new hero.  Her creations speak to me.

How was your weekend?  Mine was great.  My hubby was kind enough to take the girls so I could get my hair done.  I enjoyed having a few hours to myself.  I think I could get used to that kind of treatment.  :)  Here's my new hair...

The girls loved it so much they had me lay down on their bedroom floor (yes, that is another Mercer Mayor book!), gave me a pillow, covered me with a blanket, and styled away.  :)

Easter Fun

Hello all you lovely people out there...how was your Easter?  Ours was wonderful--we spent the weekend with our family and gobbled up some yummy, yummy food.  Here are a few spotlights of our celebration:

The girls decorated an Easter egg cake with their cousins...

Then they each decorated their very own cupcakes!  They did a splendid job.

 

Here's my adorable nephew with his cupcake...

 

and I couldn't resist peeling off the wrapper of this cupcake and transforming it into a basket full of eggs.

 

Here's Jane's first basket, um, I mean, Bumbo seat, that serves as a basket!

Doesn't she make the cutest little bunny you've ever seen?!  :)

 

The Easter bunny treated me quite well this year.  I found these beauties at the end of a clever scavenger hunt full of riddles...oh, I love that thoughtful bunny!

 

And the girls found these little critters in their baskets.  Won't they make a great addition to their Fairy Village?

Getting Crafty for Easter

Hi everyone!  It's Friday...finally!

Are you looking for a last minute Easter craft for this weekend?  Here's a fun one...turn a plain box of crayons into a a Easterific one!  (sorry...I couldn't resist typing that)

I made this one yesterday.  

I first thought of this idea when I used my friend's die cut set to punch out the easter basket and eggs.  I thought to myself, "Wouldn't the kiddos have fun decorating the eggs with crayons?"  So I grabbed a box of crayons to put with the basket and eggs, and in my attempt to make it somewhat cute, I stuck some Easter stickers on it , but it looked kinda ugly.  So I glued some blue paper on it to put the stickers on.  But then I thought it would look even cuter with paper eggs on it...but of course easter eggs have to have grass, so I threw on some hand-cut felt grass.   And then I wanted to fill in the extra space above the eggs so I stamped "Happy Easter".  I like how it turned out, and hope the girls do too.  It was a fun craft...you should make one yourself for your little kiddos, or if you have older kids let them make one!  If you don't have access to a die cutter here's a cute printable basket.  Cut out your own eggs to fill it with and you're set!  

I snapped a few photos of how I decorated the crayon box:

Cover the box as if your wrapping present...

 

except leave the top end open...

cut a separate piece to cover the lid; I used a bone scorer to create the crease.

 

Then decorate!  I used a hot glue gun for everything except for the stripes/dots on the eggs--I used clear tacky glue for that.
