Birthday Fun

I had to share this fun idea that Erica made for favors for my birthday party.  She requested that I give her a list of 10 of my favorite things and this is what she did with it:

 

Now, how THOUGHTFUL was that?  It was fun to see a tube of lip gloss, yummy tea bags, and a new pattern to knit in the little gift bag to represent my favorite things!  I thought this was the best idea I've seen in a long time.

I also wanted to share with you a couple really cool handmade gifts I received for my big day.

  Carrie gave me this lovely necklace...

 

I LOVE it.  The photograph is titled "Things Are Looking Up" and it was taken by her!  It is of a rose in the Portland Rose Gardens.  This little 5/8" X 5/8" photo is displayed in a sterling silver bezel and hangs from a delicate sterling silver ball chain.  I haven't taken it off since it was given to me.  You can visit her shop here.

And my friend, Avey, felted and sewed this lovely little "purse organizer".  It is now home to my lipgloss, mints, and business card holder, among other important little purse items.  :)

 

Don't you just love the button?  I first spotted a pile of them in her craft room a couple weeks ago and immediately fell in love with them...they remind me of moss.  No wonder she chose to adorn the little organizer with it!  Too cool.

She doesn't have an Etsy shop yet, but believe me, when she does I'll let you know!

I had such a wonderful weekend...thank you to everyone who made it so special for me!  And thank you for all your birthday wishes!!

I know I'm a little late in announcing the winner of this contest...so sorry!  I've been a busy lil' gal today.  I was lucky enough to hang out with my Dad all morning working on a fun project together.  I love my Dad.  He is the best..I feel blessed to be his daughter.

I'm also feel blessed to have Erica as my friend...she hosted a fabulous little birthday get-together for me tonight and went all the way out.  Thank you, Erica...I am grateful for our friendship!

(This pendant was hand sculpted and fired by me using metal clay.  It is 99.9% fine silver and is decorated with a purple cz gem...so cute, if I do say so myself.)

New Designs

I finally did it.  

I updated my shop with a few new designs!  This may not seem like a very big deal, but these ideas/designs have been swimming around in my mind for months and it feels SOO incredibly good to finally make them!

I'm most excited about this little gal:

My Lil' Cupcake

I created the "cup" part of the cupcake with a special "metal clay" that contains teeny tiny particles of fine silver that can actually be SCULPTED and once it is fired to the right temperature --GET THIS-- a SOLID fine silver piece is made!  (The clay/organic matter is burned away, leaving only the fine silver!) I'm sure you can imagine how exciting this was for me to make, with my past experience with pottery/clay...it is so amazing combining the two arts of sculpting and jewelry design!  The possibilities are endless...I'm in design heaven right now.
