Here it is- the first of three felt projects! And yes, you read the title correctly--these scrumptious delights are made of felt and are handsewn with embroidery floss. These were so much FUN to make...I'm sure you'll be as giddy as I was while making them. As you can see, you can create many different styles, so allow your little mind to go crazy with ideas!
I embellished mine with sprinkles, and personalized my daughters' cookies by handsewing their names. I cannot wait to give these to them on Valentine's Day. Before we get started on how to make them here are a few close-up pictures:
Avery's cookie was made to look like the one I decorated for her last year:
I have created a photo album with pictures of all the different steps to making a round Valentine cookie with white frosting and red sugar sprinkles:
In this tutorial I used two different stitches--the "Blanket Stitch" and the "Whip Stitch". If you are not familiar with these stitches you can learn to make them here, at
futuregirl.com.
And don't think only adults can do this...last night my 8 year old niece and 6 year old nephew both made one and they turned out WONDERFUL! This is a great family activity! (My niece and nephew used the whip stitch only, which looked very cute.)
That's it for today...Happy Stitching!
Oh my goodness! I can't wait to make these! Thanks for sharing!

One other thing. I commented on an oooold post of yours the other day, but since it was so old, you might not have seen it. I have pics of my wedding up on my blog, and there's a pic that shows the beautiful wedding necklace you made for me. I don't have any of the Bridesmaids necklace pics up yet, but just wanted to let you know there's one of mine up. Here's the link: http://notesfromdionne.blogspot.com/

Hello!! I tried to leave a comment on your blog but couldn't figure out how to! (blush!)
Your cookies turned out fantastic! Thanks so much for creating a link back to my site.
Do you craft for fun or professionally? Your work is wonderful. :)

The cookies are super cute. I noticed some of the cookies have embroidered text and flowers. Any chance on getting a tutorial that explains this? I made a felt ipod holder the other day and I tried to monogram my initials....fail! Hahaha. I also tried to embroider lips and eyes on the little felt face i made for it but to quote my daughter "Momma why does she have scary eyes?" Enough said.

Oh your cookies. Those cookies are so pretty, so sweet. I sighed with awe as soon as I saw them. Just lovely. And how fun that we were featured together! Of course you can show my clock on your blog. I am flattered and so much thanks for your kind comment.

These are wonderful! The one personalized for Avery is my favorite. I didn't get any felt ornaments made for Christmas, so maybe I can get these done for my girls for Valentine's Day. :)
