To make a paper birthday cap select a square piece of scrapbook paper that measures 12" X 12''. Curl the edges and make a cone to the size of your liking, creating a hole big enough on the top to glue the yarn ball to. Trim the corner of the paper so the point doesn't curl around to the front side of the hat; glue with a hot glue gun. Trim the very bottom so it is flat.
Wrap your choice of yarn around the base of the hat and glue with a hot glue gun.
Form a ball by wrapping the yarn around and around tightly, and glue to the top of the hat.
To attach straps, cut two pieces of ribbon and hot glue to the inside of the hat; glue a piece of round paper on top of the ribbon to help secure it, and to give it a more professional appearance.
Add any embellishements you like, such as a number, image, letter or whatever your little heart desires!
And most importantly, have fun!!
