Well, how was your Valentine's Day (yes, I'm a little late writing this post, but what's new??)? Ours was splendid. This year's heart trail led the girls to their new paper dolls and sugar cookies...
They love their Lily and Thistle dolls!
And our 3 day weekend proved to be just as enjoyable as our Valentine's Day. Miss C learned to ride her bike!
Way to go my little girl! She and Jane then enjoyed a rest during a hike with their Daddy. :) Yes, we've been taking advantage of this beautiful dry weather here in Portland. It's been wonderful having a break from the rain!
And since the rain continued to hold off throughout President's Day we took the little ones to Portland's Audobun Society for a little bird adventure, and boy did we get one!
We first met a raven named Aristophanes. I had no idea ravens were so big! Holy cow.
We then came face to face with a Northern Spotted owl named Hazel, which I failed to take a picture of (what was I thinking??), but Avery sketched a beautiful drawing of her (which again, I failed to take a picture of).
But take a gander at this beauty! This is Julio, a rescued Great Horned Owl that the society has been taking care of for a number of years now.
The girls sketched a picture of her, too.
I'm so happy we were able to experience this wonderful place and I can't believe it was our first time going! We'll be heading back very soon. I have much to learn of this conservation program and look forward to exploring ways to support it.
We then finished the day with some homemade brownies Miss C made from this darling cookbook given to her and her sisters from their Aunt Ellen. (Thank you, Ellen! The girls are loving it!)
Tasty, tasty! They were seriously so good. She's quite the baker if I do say so myself.
xo,
Pamela
