Hello Everyone!  I felt it was about time to update everyone on the progress of my sweet little niece Kelsi who is battling Neuroblastoma cancer.  Last week a scan displayed no visible cancer tumors in her body!!  It is a miracle how her little body has responded to her treatment.   Though this is wonderful news, Kelsi still has a long road ahead of her.  Last week she finished her last round of chemo (this last dose was a series of extremely aggressive chemotherapy drugs to kill any potentially remaining cancer cells.)     And today, in just a few hours, she will be receving a stem cell transplant.

 

Her parents wrote this in today's email update to family and friends:

The actual transplant is a procedure where they give Kelsi her own stem cells through her hickman line.  They have to give them to her while they are still cold so the cells won't die.  The coldness and the gel they are in will make her sick and hurt, but they say it should just last half an hour.  Then over the next few days as her old cells die off, these new cells will come in and start to mature and grow and take over.  They say every child is different as to the time frame for that to happen.  They have told us to expect her to be very sick for about a week.  

So friends, at this time, please continue your prayers for this little doll and her family.  Please pray that her body will continue to respond well to the treatment, and that the stem cell transplant will be a success.  Please pray for continued strength and comfort for the family.

A few new pretty little things...

Hello there!

Notice anything new around here?  I gave the blog a new makeover!  I hope you like it. :)  I feel like this look is a little more me.  It's not completely finished but it'll have to do for now.  I'll just have to chip away at it a little here and a little there as I teach myself the ins and outs of everything.

And speaking of new things, last night I finished some new goodies for the shop in downtown Longview. 

Here are five new necklaces that I'll be dropping off in the morning (the little wooden tray is what I use to transport my jewelry there--helps keep the pieces tangle-free!

4. Circle necklace (haven't figured out a name for it yet, but I sure do like it!

5.  A Posy Locket--resin flower atop a locket

I especially adore this little cupcake pendant (a little ruby gem hangs about 2 inches above the pendant on the right side).

And there's something brand spankin' new I'll be bringing in as well...

But these aren't just ordinary party hats.  Nope, they're extra special.  They're made with the utmost attention to detail.  Many different kinds of beautiful lace and trim decorate each one, making hat unique from one another.

I think making baby Jane's birthday party hat made me want to make some for the shop.  I think they'll compliment the current products I have there...  my little space is slowly turning into a one-stop-party-shop--jewelry, cards, gift-packaging, and all sorts of other stuff.  :)

And I think I had just as much fun making the sign for them as I did the hats!

Playing around with all that lace has put me in a Valentine-making-mood... can't wait to get started on some.

(Which by the way, it has be SO fun bumping into some of you in the shop!  Love it!)

As for my Etsy shop, I've decided I won't be opening it for the month of February.  I'll talk more about that decision in an upcoming post, but I just wanted to give ya'll a heads up just in case you were wondering about it.

I think that's it for now.  I need to go rummage through the fridge and put something together for din-din.

~Friends~

Do you have friends that constantly inspire you? I do, and I feel incredibly blessed to have them in my life.  Honestly, right now I feel a wee bit saturated with friends like this... the kind that love me, uplift me, are genuine and sincere, do not spend time gossiping and comparing themselves with others, but genuinely look for the good in others, regardless of differences of personalities, their history, religion, or whatever.

And the snow came...

yes, beautiful, fluffy flakes fell clumsily from the sky...

and they were very much enjoyed by three sweet little girls...

icy cold noses and fingers

with mugs full of hot cocoa

Snowman Cake Pops!

Just caught wind that it might snow in a few days... finally!  I've been waiting for some magical white flakes to fall from the sky.  Winter just ain't winter without a little bit of snow! 

And if it does snow, I think we'll create more Snowman Cake Pops to celebrate.  (I'll use any excuse to make cake pops!) I made these little guys over Christmas break...

I love how a few oreos (regular and mini size) and a snippet of a dried apricot can transform my snowball cake pops into something even tastier.  The perfect companion for hot cocoa, in my little opinion.

Have you ever made cake pops?  If so, what kind?  I'd love to know. :)

Any blueberry muffin lovers out there?? I certainly hope so!

My hubby had a birthday this week and I made these blueberry muffins for his special breakfast...

A few extra Birthday photos...

Here are the pictures that wouldn't load in the previous post (I'm still not sure why they couldn't... hmmmmm.)  Jane's still in love with her dolly.  Plays with her every day.  I felt like her new little friend needed a name, and Lucy seemed to be the perfect fit.  

 

I figure if Jane doesn't like the name when she's older she can always change it, right?! :)

The last gift we gave her was a fantastic musical instrument set--all the different components conveniently store inside the drum.  Brilliant.  More pictures of all the pieces another time (you're going to love it--it's insect themed and the drumsticks shown in the picture below are centipedes--it is downright adorable!). She loves playing with it.  I think we just might have a little musician on our hands!  How wonderful would that be?

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!  Can't wait to snuggle with the hubs and watch a movie as soon as the kidlets fall asleep.  I need some relaxaaaaaaation.  Being a mama of three little ones is fabulous in every way, but it can seriously suck all the livin' energy out of me sometimes.  Whew!  No wonder why I'm a firm believer of early bedtimes. :)
