Psssst. I have a little secret to share with you. Have you been wanting to buy the popular The Elf on the Shelf book/doll but haven't wanted to fork over the $40 to get it? Me neither, but I love the idea of having the Christmas tradition of perching a little elf of a shelf that visits Santa every night to report who's been naughty or nice in our household, and is found in different areas around the house each morning upon her return from The North Pole. Very cute idea! (And brilliant business plan, I might add--it's all about creating that "experience", isn't it?) Well, like I said, I didn't want to pay the $40 to get it so when I visited our local Safeway grocery store a couple days ago you can imagine my excitement when my eyes landed on this cute little gal...
Meet Petals, our very own little elf. Isn't she a cutie? And do you wanna know what's extra great about her? She's on sale this week for $5.99 (reg. $9.99)! It was a no brainer. I mean, how can you resist this face? Her ears?? That capelet draped around her shoulders???
There's a boy version as well, but of course we chose the girl. There's also a 2 foot elf on sale for $11.99 (reg. $19.99) but I like the itty-bitty 12'' size.
And the girls love her. This morning they found her on top of our 6' palm plant. They giggled and giggled when they found her. I wonder where she'll end up tomorrow morning?? Under the table? On top of the toilet? We shall see. :)
Here's to a new Christmas tradition! Oh, how I love traditions. Do you have any you've already started? I'd love to hear!
xo,
Pamela, a gal who's becoming quite excited for Christmas. So excited that we started another new tradition today, but I'll have to wait and tell you about it tomorrow. :)
p.s. In my last post I mentioned I'd share with you some of my Illustrator homework from my Illustrator 101 course I recently finished. One of the assignments was to create an Etsy/blog banner and blog button (sorry the banner is so small!):
And here's the blog button:
And here's a cute little invitation:
The course just ended and I'm kinda sad... it's been such a fun class to take. Alma is such a natural teacher and has a great sense of humor. Thank you, Alma!!!
So if you've been itchin' to learn this wonderful world of Illustrator, GO FOR IT!!
