I think I need to stop telling you when I plan to post something because it seems to never happen like I plan it. For example, 11 days ago (ELEVEN!!) I mentioned I was excited to share with you a new Christmas tradition our little family has started & that I would share it the next day. Never happened. I suppose because things get so darn busy around here and I quickly move onto something else. Does that ever happen to you? Well, here I am ready to finally share with you that new tradition!
Wednesday, November 30th at 9:00 pm I got a wild hair to craft. You just might be thinking that's nothing new for me, but to tell you the truth, I haven't crafted much lately (at least before that evening... too tired at night I suppose). I've always wanted to make an advent calendar for my family, and I just happened to have a box of delicious felt waiting for me to dig into it. Since December 1 was the very next day, I stayed up quite late that night to complete it so it could be enjoyed the following day. Here's what I came up with...
It's not 100% done but pretty close. I think I want to add a few more pom-poms and decorate the clothe-pins that are holding it up. The girls love their treats from it every night after dinner. (And it's great bribery to get them to eat all their food, I might add!)
I basically made it by cutting out felt squares, sewed fabric numbers to them ( to make the numbers I printed out the desired font size on paper, cut them out, pinned the numbers onto fabric that had Heat n' Bond adhered to it, cut those out, ironed the numbers on the felt squares, sewed around the edges), then sewed the squares onto a large rectangular piece of felt. Luckily I had all the trims and rick-rack on hand for embellishing it. Ya gotta embellish something like this. Makes it more fun.
Another tradition the girls are thoroughly enjoying are our little elves that come back from the North Pole each night. This next little idea I must admit was not conceived in my brain. At all. A friend of mine on facebook comes up with the CUTEST and most clever ideas for their little elf, Bernard. And he is one mischievous little elf, let me tell you. For instance, one morning her children woke up to their Christmas tree with toilet paper all over it! That's right. Their elf TPed their tree. I thought it was such a great idea I wanted to do the same. (Lindsay, thanks for sharing such great ideas!) So one morning this is what our girlies woke up to...
The girls sure got a kick out of it. They felt compelled to teach Petals and Winkie a lesson though, so off to time-out they went! hahahaha! They came up with that all on their own.
There are a few more ideas I want to try so I'll share them with you once I do. But I won't tell you when just in case 11 days go by without me doing so!
Real quick, before I let you go. Remember my 18 cent church outfit from way back when? I found a new vintage 9 cent skirt to go with the top. Actually, I found the skirt a bit ago at the same fun thrift shop but have been waiting for colder weather to wear it. Perfect for the holidays, in my lil' opinion.
Fun, fun, fun.
WAIT! How could I forget?! I haven't yet shared with you that when my shop was open last week I hit the 1,000 sale mark!! How exciting is that? Very!! And in celebration of this milestone I will be hosting a generous giveaway. One that you won't want to miss. :)
Okay, that's it. It's bedtime for this lil' mama.
Until next time...
xoox,
Pamela
