I've Caught the Shutterbug Fever

I like taking pictures.  Love it, actually.  In my spare time I've been educating myself in the art of photography from various sources.  Perhaps down the road, when the kiddos are older, I'll dedicate more time to photography.  But for now, I'll enjoy the occasional photo sessions I can squeeze in for my customers.  Yesterday I was hired to photograph this darling girl in celebration of her first birthday.  

Now isn't she a sweetheart?  Those eyes just get me.

And here's my own little pumpkin, and that is exactly what she is in this picture... she was a pumpkin in the ballet recital Cinderella.

 

Capturing precious moments such as these bring me such joy.

Pearly Drip Drops--June's Birthstone Giveaway!

The sun finally came out today.  It was much needed, let me tell you.  I am ready for some consistent sunshine!  

A few days ago, while it was gloomy and raining buckets, I decided to make this month's birthstone necklace  giveaway rain related.  How does a pearly Drip Drops sound to you?  Silvery blue pearls drip from this sterling silver cloud.  I like it.  A lot.

And for good measure, I've decided to throw in a vintage umbrella apron. Perfect for baking in rainy style.

I purchased the apron recently from a vintage shop.  Not sure when it was made... maybe the 60's?  50's?  Dunno.  But I know I like it.  Actually, I'm surprised I'm willing to part with it.  I guess I just have one too many aprons hanging about. (Since it's pretty old, there's a few imperfections that come along with it, but  don't worry... that doesn't diminish the cuteness of it!)

Packaging the necklace in a cute little bag was a must.

Pamela, a gal from the rainy states who happens to be very ready for summer weather.... with sunblock, of course. :)

I love me a good cowboy reunion in the country because I have the coolest relatives around.

 

 

 

 

 

What a wonderful time we had.  I just wish I had a picture of my Grandpa and Grandma, Frank and Flossie to share with you.  What wonderful people they were.  Salt of the earth kind of people that you can't help but love and admire.  Grandpa loved to fish... no wonder many of his descendants love to do the same!  And one of my favorite memories of Grandma is sitting at her kitchen table in Murtaugh, Idaho eating slices of homemade bread topped with butter and her delicious strawberry jam each time we visited them.  So many fond memories.  Oh, how I loooooved to sit next to her at church and listen to her sing hymns.  You see, my Grandma Floss was only 4' 6" and had a voice to match her size.  Listening to her sing "There is Sunshine In My Soul Today" reminded me of Alfalfa's voice from the Little Rascals... SOOO cute.  How I miss them.  Gathering with all my cousins at the reunion was a very special time indeed.  We come from extraordinary people, and for that I feel deep gratitude in my heart.  

I love all of you!  Can't wait for the next reunion in three years!

On Our Way

I arrived home last night from a family reunion in Idaho.  Oh, how I love my family.  Such a blessed little gal I am.  But before we arrived to our destination we had a little adventure along the way.  It first started with a stop at my Dad's office to pick up a few things before we got on the road.  And what did we see??  A robin's nest with baby birdies!

Don't worry, I didn't touch them.  I just wish I could've snatched some pictures of the pretty blue eggs.

I couldn't help taking a snapshot of these beauties that were just down the road from Dad's office (he had to stop there before we left).

We then drove all the way to Nyssa, Oregon and stayed the night with my dear cousin, Stephanie.  Her yard was filled with gorgeous columbines.

They live waaaaay out in the country, right next to Idaho.  So beautiful.  I just love the country.  I feel at home there.  Like I just want to kick my shoes off and walk around barefoot and soak in the good ol' simple life.  

Steph and her husband Spencer live near an onion field.  We couldn't resist dancing a little jig out there.

I think we scared my sister Holly a tad bit.  Or perhaps she was more worried.  I can't tell.

Ain't she a cute one?  Gettin' hitched in August.  I can't wait for the wedding!

Then Steph checked on her garden she recently planted.  Let me tell you-- this chica knows how to garden.  And she's a canning maniac.  I'm hoping to finagle some more tomatoes from her this year.  

Her hubby's horses wanted me to tell you hi.

The next morning we headed across the border into Idaho for our reunion.  On our way we stopped to stretch our legs.

Dad had some stories about he and my Grandpa that took place around this area.  He grew up not too far from here.

 

The love and respect I have for my Dad is more than I could ever try to convey on here.  I am so blessed to have him as my own.

Tomorrow I'll show some of the highlights from our reunion with his siblings and their children.  It was a grand time indeed!

A Fun Day Had By All...

Duuuuuude.  Can I just say I'm pretty proud of myself?  All the jewelry orders that were placed the last two days have been shipped!  Shipped and on their way to necks and ears that are awaiting them!  Yes, I can officially say I've done away with the two week turn around time.  I figured since people waited one month to order their jewelry the last thing they wanted to do was to wait two more looooong weeks to receive their little pretties.  With the orders completed, maybe I won't take so long hosting the monthly birthstone giveaway.  I'd do it tomorrow, but I'll be in the car on my way to good ol' Idaho for a family reunion.  Miss A will be accompanying me while the other two stay home with Daddy.  Wish we could all go but it just isn't going to workout that way this year.

Before I go, I want to share with you some photos I took last week while visiting the beach with friends.

At first it was sunny...

so we broke out the kite...

and the buckets...

and then another kite...

But then the rains came down...

and so did the tears...

and then somehow Miss C snuck Mr J's umbrella...

and we made our way to an aquarium and waited for the clouds to dissipate. 

Then it was souvenir selection time...

And of course Miss C chose a land snail shell over the many seashells. 

And Miss C tired of picture taking.

Goodbyes were given to the Harbor seals...

and they said goodbye back.

Then a carousel called our names.

Such a good daddy.

Yes, we had a grand time.

Noses were bitten...

Fingers were chomped on...

Dads were happy...

and candy was enjoyed.

Yes, a fun day was had by all.

A Daisy Day

My torch was calling my name last night so I grabbed my spool of fine silver wire and got to cuttin', shapin', and firin'.  The end result?  A plethora of circles!  (earrings $38, necklace $ 32)  These will be available in the shop on Monday, 9:00 am Pacific Time.

 

I must be a pyro because I love firing with the torch... don't worry, I know when to stop.  :)  It's amazing to me how fine silver fuses to itself with the right amount of flame.  After the circles were fully formed I took a hammer to them to flatten 'em a bit for added strength and visual interest.  I then created the earwires by creating the ball at the end of the wire (once again, by using the torch) and formed and hammered them into shape.  I think this set just might be my new favorite!  There's a refreshing organic feel to them.

And speaking of organic, our unmowed, neglected patch of front lawn was the place to be yesterday afternoon.  With daisies galore, my kiddos got to pickin'.  These are the moments I love.  Absolutely love.  And to tell you the truth, I wish we could just keep our lawn this way, but I'm sure it's driving our neighbors crazy.

Here's a different outfit she's wearing with the necklace.  Can't see the birdie very well but I'm in LOVE with her clothes.  This chica's got style.

And speaking of Erin, we were able to catch up last weekend while she was in town.  And can I just say this gal possesses some made knitting skills?  She knitted each of my lil' girlies an adorable hat, and one for me to boot.  I wore it all day long.  I'll post pics next week once I get all my daughters to sit still for a nice picture.
