I recently purchased something that I have been wanting for a LOOOONG time...a honeypot. You see, I didn't want to be just any old honeypot. It needed to be beautiful, yet simple. I was lucky enough to find one that a friend of mine made. Her name is Heidi, and she is one cool chica. My Mother introduced me to her a few years back. Oh, how my Mom adored her...their friendship was instant from the moment they met at a pottery retreat in Wisconsin.

Since Mom's passing my family has continued our friendship with Heidi. We've been lucky enough to have her come out to visit us a couples times over the last two years. In fact, she came out to help Ellen and I fire Mom's gas kiln for the first time by ourselves! She's a real peach. She has a fabulous pottery blog that you should check out. If you're on facebook, you can become a fan of "Heidi Haugen Pottery"...I recommend it! I always enjoy her updates and have been learning a lot from them. And please do not forget to check out her website, where you can learn more about her, like how she lives near the entrance of Glacier National Park in Montana! How cool and unique is that? Someday I'm going to visit her there.
It was on her fan page that I first spotted my honeypot. It was love at first sight!
I bought it. When the packaged arrived in the mail I was extra delighted to see that Heidi sent me a gift along with my new lil' pot. A wheel-thrown cake plate! I love it.
It is now home to my honeypot as well as a couple spice bowls.
AND...a few days after getting my new pot I was LUCKY ENOUGH to purchase some honey from family friends in Canby, Oregon. The coolest part of this was watching Chuck fill up the 1 gallon glass container in his honey room! Oh, and I should mention, I had my pick from 3 different varieties of honey--wildflower (from Canby and Hood River), clover, and blackberry. I choose wildflower. It is out of this world!
Gorgeous.
Now, what kind of person would I be if I didn't share a yummy recipe that involves honey?

And one last thing before I let you go. Since we're on the topic of honey, I want to introduce a new necklace design that I recently created that involve BEES!
"Be Happy" is a new sterling silver pendant that hangs from a beautiful cable chain. Notice that the round disc lays on top of the square??? I soldered it myself! I've been wanting to learn this new technique for such a long time and finally did it. I must admit--I've been enjoying firing up the torch for soldering--it is too much fun.

p.s. I can't help but to share this amazing story that involves my Grandma...she was miraculously saved from an auto accident she was involved in earlier this week minutes before her vehicle became engulfed in flames. It is a true miracle and a must read!
